Study 11: Shaking the dust off your feet

Pray

Ask God to show you what to invest in, and what to let die

Review

Take ten minutes to review how you are getting on with the actions you have commited to so far. Think about the following question:

  • Am I doing what I committed to doing?
  • How is it going?
  • What am I investing in that isn't bearing fruit?

Read

When you enter the home, give it your blessing. If it turns out to be a worthy home, let your blessing stand; if it is not, take back the blessing. If any household or town refuses to welcome you or listen to your message, shake its dust from your feet as you leave

Matthew 10: 12-14 (NLT)

Reflect

  • What does this verse tell me about Jesus?
  • What does this verse tell me about myself?

Whilst Jesus loved the lost, he was never afraid of moving on, and he encouraged his disciples to do the same.

In the Acts 13: 50-52 we see the Paul and Barnabus taking this instruction literally. Look also at Paul's actions in Acts 18:5-7

Practice: Moving On

  • Actively moving on from relationships that are not bearing fruit
  • Warning people of the consequences of rejecting the Gospel
  • Letting things die in order to find places where there is chance of life

Action

Reflecting on the practice and the questions below write down at least one thing you will do (or stop doing) this week

  • What do you need to let die?
  • How should we warn people of the consequences of rejecting the Gospel?

Share

If you are doing this in a group share your action statements and pray for each other. If you are doing this on your own we strongly recomend you share with at least one other person
