Study 5: Pray

Pray

Continue praying for your village, town or city. Ask God to raise up people who will take the gospel to it

Review

Take ten minutes to review how you got on with the actions you commited to in the previous few studies. Think about the following questions:

  • Have I been doing what I committed to doing?
  • How is it going?
  • What changes am I seeing in myself?

Read

He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”

Matthew 9: 37-38 (NLT)

Reflect

  • What does this verse tell me about Jesus?
  • What does this verse tell me about myself?

Often we hear stories of the church in decline, yet Jesus says that the harvest is plentiful. Many people may be interested in faith or want to hear about Jesus but not have the courage or desire to go to a church.

Jesus telling his disciples to pray for workers is a prelude to him asking them to be the answer to that very prayer.

Practice: Prayer

  • Regularly asking God to send out disciple-makers
  • Allowing our heart to be broken for the lost
  • Praying for spiritual openness and for opportunities to share the gospel

Action

Reflecting on the practice and the questions below write down at least one thing you will do (or stop doing) this week

  • What place, country, people-group or demographic is God placing on your heart and how should you be praying for it?
  • What can you stop doing in order to spend more time praying?
  • How can you encourage others to join you in praying?
  • What will you commit to praying for this week?

Share

If you are doing this in a group share your action statements and pray for each other. If you are doing this on your own we strongly recomend you share with at least one other person
